Overview

Leeds Trinity University is a university in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. Leeds Trinity offers foundation and undergraduate degrees, as well as postgraduate qualifications. With living, teaching, social and recreational facilities all on a single campus site, Leeds Trinity offers students a good student experience.  

Background and History

Founded in 1966, Leeds Trinity is a relatively modern university of just over 3,000 students. The university has a strong vocational focus and it was one of the first universities to offer professional work placements as part of every undergraduate degree. These placements remain an integral, assessed part of every degree.

Location and Accessibility

The City of Leeds has great transport links with the rest of the UK (linked to the M1 Northbound, M62 Eastbound, A1 Southbound) and has its own airport. Once you have arrived in the city centre, you can simply follow the directions provided below.

Travel by Road- Follow the Airport signs onto the A65 Ilkley/Skipton road out of Leeds. Continue for five miles passing Kirkstall Abbey on your left until you meet the Leeds Outer Ring Road (A6120) at a large roundabout with the Esso Garage on your right. Take the 3rd exit off this roundabout onto the A6120 heading towards York. Continue along this road until you reach a set of traffic lights. Leeds Trinity is signposted here. Turn left onto Fink Hill. Continue for one mile to arrive at a roundabout. Take the 2nd exit onto Brownberrie Lane and Leeds Trinity is located on the left approximately half a mile along this road.

Travel by Rail- Leeds Trinity is situated approximately 1 mile from Horsforth station on the Leeds-York line. Leeds is well served by suburban rail lines and stations and it is easy to travel in or out of the city centre by train.

Travel by Bus- Leeds Trinity is served by bus services between the City Centre and Horsforth. The 97 (Leeds to Guiseley) bus stops right outside the campus entrance and can take you into Leeds City Centre via Headingley.

What's on Offer

Leeds Trinity offers the following courses to students- Foundation: Work-related, higher education qualifications- Undergraduate: BA, (One BSc in Forensic Psychology)- Postgraduate: MA, MSc (Accreditation available from NCTJ BJTC)- 2 Year Degrees: a good option if you want to fast track into the world of work and start earning a graduate salary.

Entry Requirements

Leeds Trinity University has a minimum entry requirement which all students have to satisfy in order to be enrolled. You usually need to have a minimum of five qualifications:- At least two of these should be full A2 levels (or equivalent level 3 qualifications)- At least one of these should be GCSE English Language at Grade C or above (or equivalent). There may be additional requirements for individual courses these can be found listed on the university's website.

Facilities

Academic Facilities

The university has some great new facilities for students to enjoy, these inlcude the Media Centre, which allows students the freedom to express themselves, The Andrew Kean Learning Centre, in which the main library can be found, and The Centre for Journalism, which has developed two additional multimedia newsrooms one for undergraduate and one for postgraduate studies. The areas provide open plan flexible teaching and learning space. The campus also boasts 7 dedicated ICT Suites all equipped for student needs.  

Other on-site Amenities

Students enjoy low-cost rates at Trinity Fitness, our sports centre which includes a sports hall, a fully-fitted fitness suite with a free weights area, two treatment rooms, a movement and spin studio, a gymnasium (incorporating dance studio facilities) and two squash courts. Outdoor sports facilities include three full-size rugby/football pitches, six dedicated tennis courts, two multi-use hard courts and a running track. The most recent addition is a 3G Astroturf Pitch.  

Social and Medical Care

Leeds Trinity University's Student Union has a lot to offer students, encouraging wider participation in all aspects of student life. The University has a good Dyslexia and Disability Support Service that offers support to all students with physical, mental, or learning disabilities in order to ensure that they are able to thrive and succeed.

Leeds is an wonderful student city. The UK's third largest city, it has a massive population of around 200,000 students and is renowned for its amazing nightlife, culture and shopping. On top of this, the city is internationally recognised as a major centre of learning.
