MidKent College (formerly Mid-Kent College of Higher and Further Education) is a further education college in Kent. It runs courses from two separate campuses in Maidstone and Medway, including a number of higher education courses. As one of the largest further education and training providers in the South East, it can offer an extensive range of learning and training services. There are approximately 8,500 students aged 16 years and upwards enrolled at the college.
Courses and Fees
Mid-Kent College offers one of the most extensive ranges of full-time, part-time, short and long courses in Kent and the South East. Some courses are designed to improve academic qualifications and gain access to higher education at college or university. Others are related to work and designed for students who have a particular career in mind. Some provide professional development for those who are already employed, and others can be completed purely for leisure purposes. Mid-Kent College also offers a range of higher education courses at its Medway and Maidstone campuses. The following are a selection of subjects on offer: A Level History, A Level Law, A Level Maths, Extended Certificate/Diploma in Sport Level 2, Diploma in Land-based Studies Level 1 (NVQ) Diploma in Beauty Therapy - General Level 2, Extended Diploma in Vehicle Technology, Frontline Training for the Airport, Travel and Tourism Industry Level 2
Mid-Kent College's Maidstone Campus houses a range of quality workshops, including those for Bricklaying, Carpentry, Motor Vehicle and Welding, as well as a large Learning Resource Centre, refectory and welcoming social zone. In 2012 major redevelopment work costing a total of £25 million started at the Maidstone Campus, where they installed new state-of-the-art facilities. As part of the rebuild Mid-Kent College has purchased the University for the Creative Arts' Maidstone campus, which is also based at Oakwood Park and now houses the majority of the College's higher education courses. Mid-Kent College's modern Medway Campus boasts some of the best vocational training facilities in the country. The state-of-the-art site houses a range of top-quality workshops and laboratories as well as a large Learning Resource Centre, refectory and social zones. The modern Learning Resource Centre at MidKent College's Medway Campus contains all the library and study facilities you will need to make the best of your course, including text books, newspapers, magazines and a growing number of online resources. There's space for individual or group study, and you can get online using the IT terminals or your own laptop via WiFi.
