Background and HistoryNewman University was founded in 1968 as Newman College of Higher Education, before receiving full university status in 2013. Initially established as a teacher training college, Newman has since expanded to provide a range of single and combined honour degrees, and work-based foundational degrees. The university is founded on Catholic values of tolerance and inclusion and is proud to welcome staff and students of all religions and backgrounds.
Location and Accessibility
By Rail: The nearest station to the university is Northfield, Selly Oak is more convenient to travel from, however. Exit the station via the car park and turn left onto Bristol Road for buses to the university.
By Road: The university's Bartley Green location is conveniently accessible from both the M5 and M42 motorways.
