Sussex Downs College (SDC) was established in 2001 by the merger of Eastbourne College of Arts and Technology and Lewes Tertiary College. A second merger with Park College in 2003 made it the largest College in Sussex and one of the most significant colleges in the South East. SDC now has approximately 5,000 mostly full-time students under the age of 19 and around 10,000 adult learners. The College has 1200 staff. SDC has been awarded Artsmark Gold for its creative and performance arts education, by Arts Council England. It is one of just fifteen colleges across the country that has achieved the Gold award.

Courses and Fees

A range of part-time and full-time courses are also offered at Sussex Downs College. These vary from leisure based courses in subjects such as arts and crafts, music, food, drink, and dance, to qualification based courses such as medicine and teacher training. Part of the college also specialises in courses for local businesses. Work-based learning is provided in a wide range of vocational areas, including business, construction, engineering, hairdressing and beauty therapy, and health and social care.

The Learning Centres are designed to be both a resources area and a place for quiet study. The centres have a wide selection of books, newspapers, CDs, DVDs, magazines and electronic journals and databases to support your research needs. The centres hold more than 48,000 books, more than 150 journal titles, more than 3000 e-books, access to 15 electronic databases and provide access to more than 200 computers. The centres also offer stationery for sale, access to binding and laminating facilities, photocopiers and printing.

Places to eat - Sussex Downs College has many restaurants, cafes and shops serving hot and cold food. There are also many vending machines placed all around the campuses offering hot and cold beverages, crisps and confectionery.
