Overview

BPP University is a private university with centres throughout the UK. The University was the first private company in the UK to be granted degree-awarding powers and specialises in teaching its students law, business and the professions.

 
 

Background History

BPP University was founded by 1992, is owned by BPP Holdings and began life as BPP Law School. It is one of the UK's leading Universities dedicated to business and the professions. In 2013, BPP University College was awarded university status and changed its name in BPP University.

BPP University has campuses throughout England, giving students the flexibility to study in a wide variety of cities, including: Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester and Swindon.

Accommodation

Private Accommodation

As BPP University is a private institution it does not offer university accommodation on any of its campuses. However, the University has a dedicated accommodation team that can help you to find a place in a private halls of residence, or organise a house share with other BPP students. The accommodation team also helps mature students and international students to find accommodation and they can be contacted through their Facebook page or by telephone: 020 3131 4501.

BPP University is made of four different schools: BPP Law School, BPP Business School, BPP School of Health and BPP School of Foundation and English Language Studies.

BPP University specialises in Law training and works in partnership with over 30 law firms, who send their students exclusively to BPP University. BPP University is one of the UK's leading universities that is specifically dedicated to business and the professions, and in 2012 96% of BPP students were in employment or further study within just 6 months.

Tuition Fees

Both undergraduate and postgraduate tuition fees vary depending on the chosen course. Financial Support BPP University runs a dedicated scholarship programme in order to help high achieving students and those that do not have the means to attend university. This includes a wide range of scholarships and bursaries across the four schools.  

Facilities

Academic Facilities

BPP University has centres in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, Bristol, Cambridge and Swindon. The study centres are equipped with eLearning technologies and each classroom has interactive smartboards, whiteboards and other resources such as recording equipment. While BPP University does not have a main campus like a traditional university, all of its study centres are built to mirror the working environment of professionals in the law and business industries, so that students can be prepared for employment after finishing their studies. The University also has a strong online learning presence, with a 24 hour online library and virtual environment (VLE). This virtual environment allows students to virtually attend live tutorials or take part in real-time classes from anywhere in the world. Computer based tests can also be taken via this virtual environment and students can gain access to a huge range of e-journals and and video content.

Medical and Social Care

BPP University advises all students to register with a local doctor wherever they are studying, preferably within two weeks of starting your course. The University also offers a dedicated counselling service at all of its study centres.

Moving On

BPP University offers all of its students a comprehensive careers service that meets the matrix standard for quality and support. Students can start using the careers service as soon as they accept a place at the University, services include: One-to-one meetings or telephone guidance, drop-in sessions, mock interviews, email advice and a range of workshops and events.

BPP University's Pro Bono Centre has won a variety of prizes and awards and allows law students to take part in pro bono work in a number of different legal fields, including Human Rights and Intellectual Property.

In 2010 BPP University was named "Post 16 education provider of the year" by the Education Investor awarding body.

 Is BPP University the place for you?

If you are studying law or business then BPP University is an excellent choice for you. However, if you would like to be part of a bustling campus, with lots of dedicated student services and activities then it may be better to choose a university with a central campus. BPP University is also a good choice for those with busy lives who would like to study at least part of their course online.
