The British Institute of Technology & E-commerce (BITE) works in collaboration with UK University partners and in association with industry to offer a wide range of courses. These courses have been developed in consultation with business and government sectors to address the gap between industry and higher education. The British Institute of Technology & E-commerce has two campuses: Stratford London HQ and Oxford Street London.
Stratford, London HQ
The British Institute of Technology & E-commerce (BITE) is a private educational institute, also involved in consultancy and research. The academic degree programmes developed and offered by BITE are validated by UK universities. The courses are intended to meet the demands of industry for exceptionally capable, multi-skilled and talented "elite" graduates. The curriculum provides broad-based academic and practical experience that will enable students to understand and apply current theories in technology, management and e-commerce as well as acquire the knowledge to specialise in a chosen field.
Tube: The nearest underground station is Stratford which is serviced by the Jubilee and Central lines, as well as the DLR and the Overground. From Stratford station, take either the 25 or 86 bus.
Bus: Routes 25 & 86 stop directly in front of the Institute. Travel in the Romford or Ilford direction and alight at the Woodgrange Road stop.
Train: The nearest rail station is at Forest Gate, which is within walking distance of BITE. When leaving the station entrance, turn right onto Woodgrange Road, continue to the junction with the Romford Road and then turn right. Avicenna House is about 100 metres on the opposite side of the road.
Car: Avicenna House is near the junction of the A118 (Romford Road) and A114 (Woodgrange Road). It is 2 miles from the junction of the A118 and the A406.
BITE works in partnership with universities to offer undergraduate and postgraduate provision, including BA, BSc, LLB, MA and further education courses. There are also professional qualifications validated by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) for managers, supervisors, and customer service and hospitality personnel.
The minimum entry qualifications for undergraduate programmes are: 180-220 UCAS Tariff points (including two GCE or VCE A-Levels or a VCE Double Award) or 12+ points at A/AS Level (for applications who completed their A/AS Levels before Summer 2003); 24 points (Pass) international Baccalaureate (Highers, all at level 4) 65% European Baccalaureate; 5 merits in year 2 of a BTEC National Diploma, relevant Access course.
BITE does not offer halls of residence of university accommodation. The Institute can provide a list of recommended accommodation however, and students can choose between independent halls of residence throughout the London area, or the huge range of private accommodation that is available in London.
Tuition fees may vary depending on the course of study chosen and whether you wish to study for an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification. It is therefore advisable to contact the institute directly or visit their website for up-to-date information.
The Newton Library is located on the 3rd floor of Kalam House and offers access to ICT integrated with printed and audio-visual resources.
At BITE's Avicenna House Campus, there are five computer laboratories, containing more than 400 PCs, most of them with flat screen TFT monitors. A whole spectrum of software including office tools, compilers, browsers, as well as specialist database, data mining, and systems analysis/design software are installed on all machines.
BITE awards degrees from the University of East London and the University of Wales.
BITE has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a number of Overseas Universities.
